Children are an vital and welcome element in the worship of St. Mary's. Children are prepared for Communion before being confirmed.
Two groups meet on a Sunday morning; one group for babies and toddlers, and the other, Little St Mary's, for the older (pre-secondary school) children. The toddler group is a new gathering where parents with babies and toddlers can go, usually in St. Luke's Chapel. Toys are available and it is a safe space where your children are free to roam and relax. (Please note that this is not a creche facility). The older group contains some teaching but also fun and games in its own special room!
We are hoping to establish and co-ordinate a new youth group and other groups for children and young people in the Parish. In order to do this, we will require willing volunteers to help in this work! Please watch this space for more information as it appears in the early Autumn. If you are a young person and have any ideas, please speak to the Curate, Fr. David, who will be delighted to hear your suggestions (or email him)!
On a Friday morning St Mary's Tots runs sessions in the church for children, see St Mary's Tots.
St Mary's follows the guidelines of the House of Bishops' publication "Protecting all God's Children. The Child Protection Policy for the Church of England". Volunteers for work with children will be subject to the usual CRB Disclosure.
